Happy 8th Anniversary Caledon

Congratulations to Desmond Shang and the many, many, many people who have called Caledon home over the years. I arrived in Second Life specifically after hearing "Caledon" had landed a new sim. Having only the vaguest idea what Second Life was and only that Caledon was a Steampunk/Victorian community I arrived about 8 months after Caledon started. By then the sixth sim had just arrived (Caledon Cay) and within a few weeks I had paid a deposit on my very first virtual land -  the south-west corner of Caledon Victoria City.

While I moved away from Caledon many years ago it holds a special place for me as the reason I decided to give Second Life a go in the first place. It also allowed me to meet a great many wonderful people including the most special of them all, my dearest Christine.

Caledon's 8th Anniversary Ball
While Caledon has lost a little weight since its heyday (like much of the rest of SL) it is a testament to the hard work of Desmond and the Caledon community that it is still strong eight years later.

New Babbage Travelogue revisited

In 2012 from August to November I took pictures of the various New Babbage sims to document their current state. While some buildings in New Babbage have remained the same since its inception, they are few and far between. Change is a constant.

At the end of last year I thought I'd try for something a little different to try and increase my familiarity with filming in SL and with video editing.

The editing took a little longer than expected but it's now done. So here is the New Babbage Travelogue for 2013 in kinescopic format.

Sadly I missed a few buildings before the snow arrived but I may do a shorter version of snow in New Babbage as a follow up now this one is done.

I think I need to get myself one of those Space Navigator mouses though.

Bedlam in Babbage: Christmas Edition

It's that time of year again: when the fake snow is stapled to the roofs of warmer cities, where the UK complains about heavy snow, and Canada laughs and thinks about maybe putting on a coat.

Where people wish for peace on earth and goodwill to all men, unless you happen to holding the last discount toy whatsit that you've been driving around all day trying to buy. Then you're prepared to do bodily harm.

And the music. It will get into your head and stay there till February.

So join Edward Pearse at the Clarendon for the annual festive assault or tune it to http://steampunk.radioriel.org

Bring lots of Christmas spirit. Double eggnong for me.
