From Death Masks, Vladimir Demikhov's medical experiments, mortal remains, underground caverns and a host of the weird, wonderful and unusual can be found in its pages.
Recently a link of interest to Miss Cornelia and Mr. Hassanov (and Mr. Chaplin were he still with us) was the Essential Library of Automata.
Listing 10 books on historical Automata, there is enough material of interest to either the historian, the toy collector or the robot aficionado.

Mad Science in Steelhead
Friday's theme for the Steelhead dance this week was mad science. Having been rather busy of late I decided to go with the cliché and find myself a lab coat. Which turned out to be a lot harder that I imagined. While Miss Vandeverre's offerings were nice, they weren't what I was looking for. Another of the labcoats for sale was, in my humble opinion, complete junk ("sexy scrubs" or not). The best one I found turned out to have a flipper script inside it which thankfully could be removed.
The Kokopelli was appropriately decked out with lightning generators, phase balls and tesla coils. Stuff to make your inner Mad Scientist swoon.

Steelhead's very own Mad Scientist who adopted an artificial arm for the evening. Really she's mad enough.

O'Tool who seems to have had pasta for dinner before coming to the dance.

Wulfenbach's Caledon Embassy opening
Saturday was a very long night with the opening of the Wulfenbach Consulate in Caledon Kittiwickshire.
For those unfamiliar with Baron Wulfenbach I would direct you to one of the most amazing comic creations I have ever had the privilege to read, Girl Genius. Other denizens of Girl Genius have turned up in Caledon in the past, but the Baron has made an outpost in Caledon.
A selection of tunes was provided by Frau Lowey (who has an unhealthy obsession with Thomas Dolby it must be said) and the Duchess of Carntaigh and a small furry Emperor coordinated the DJing duties for the night.
AT 8 hours I think this is possibly the longest Radio Riel gig ever undertaken.
Through the course of the morning we managed to have attendees from many different time zones

Sadly I was rather distracted with DJing duties and the conversation (which was going all over the place) to remember to take too many pictures.
But it was a great night and much fun was had by all
