Exploring Insilico

I've known about the existence of Insilico for years. In fact I'm sure I have visited on occasion. But on those times I did, it was a cursory stop over or a visit for a shop. I had never realised it was so BIG!

Insilico is four sims with multiple levels. Think a Second Life version of Bladerunner and you'd be off to a good start. But in addition to the city levels, there's the post-apocalyptic wasteland and the Martian mining colony. The streets are full of little nooks and crannies and it really is worth the time to explore. More pics to come!

What’s your Digits? – Take 5

Strawberry Singh has posted her annual 'Digits Challenge" over on her blog.

1. Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? If not, skip to the fourth question.I've only just begun exploring mesh bodies. For the most part I'm not enthusiastic. There's a couple of reasons for this, but reason number one is that I rarely go around semi naked. Even the photo attached here is half the swimsuit I usually wear when the occasion warrants. I recently bought a pair of SLink feet to go with the my AV. Feet (for men anyway) are like shoes. You put them on and that's it. Mesh hands (that I've seen anyway) are not rigged) so require changing hands depending on the activity involved. I'm still considering.
Reason number two is that there are very few male mesh bodies for sale. The couple I've seen are either GQ models or Himbos. Which is a little ironic since my AV shape and looked is based on Sean Connery - a Mr. Universe finalist.
Lastly, I had a certain look in mind when I was creating my AV way back in 2006. That idea hasn't changed in all the years, though it's picked up some refinements. The skin has changed a couple of times, as has the shape. My hair is so old that Tami McCoy is no longer even in SL.
I did see one recently that meshed from the neck down, thus allowing you to keep your slider head. I like the idea, though another demo I tried allowed for individual arms to be "demeshed", which would allow for things like pirate hooks, or one mechanical arm; that sort of thing.

2. What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now?
3. Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body?

4. How do you feel about mesh bodies in general?
A friend recently moved to all mesh body. Obviously it means that old slider clothes are no longer an option. For modern AVs this would be fine but there a limited amount of clothing for steampunk and historical AVs as it is. Or at least a limited amount of quality clothing.

5. What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh? bodies?Customisation is the key point. Want to have one arm missing for your look? Allow it to happen. Want to allow the individuality of a slider head? Allow it. And let's get some normal shapes out there instead of the gym-rats we have at the moment (ironic no?)

Breakfast in Babbage: St Patrick's Day!

The last Bedlam before we change back to Breakfast.

Guinness, Leprechauns and green. The ex-patriot Holy Trinity of Ireland. St. Patrick's Day is the day when people who have probably never been to Ireland celebrate that they might have Irish ancesters somewhere in their forgotten past.

SL Sci Fi Convention 2015

Science Fiction sims from around SL are once again showing their wares to entice new members, or maybe remind old ones, that they exist.

Some are just static displays, others like the USS Solstice (a Trek RP sim) have a nice little interactive adventure.

Come and explore. Who knows where you may end up?

Bedlam in Babbage: Faery Stories!

Once upon a time there lived a DJ. He had unusual tastes in music. Weird. Yes especially him.

So he decided to share his enjoyment of this odd music with others. But then the Big Bad Wolf blew down Goldilocks' house while Rumplestiltskin was busy partying with the Seven Dwarfs.

Or something like that.

Join Edward Pearse at The Clarendon.
