The hussar uniform - finally!

Waaaaaaay back during the SLRFL events there was a little RP called the Neualtenburg War. As part of the activities, our beloved Guvnah commissioned me to create two uniforms for the Caledon Militia. One was the familiar Red tunic, the other was a blue attila favoured by cavalry units.

Earlier pictures may be found in the description of ranks here and in Ordinal Malaprop's recruitment kinoscope.

At the time I had held off putting it on sale until the war was over. But as with many of these things, the war so much as didn't happen as took too long to co-ordinate and people got sick of it and moved on to other things.

However, recent enquiries have lead me to finally finish the uniform in its glory.

Special thanks to Jaeger Edelweiss, former worthy opponent, for assistance with the pelisse.

Disclaimer: Pearse'd & Cut can not be held responsible for swooning, strutting or bravado that may result from the use of this uniform. Horse and Long Weapon not included.

Very amusing

Normally I wouldn't post quiz type things here but I found the answers far too amusing not to share.

Santa comes to Caledon

Recently I was happy to get an early visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer as they made sure the sleigh was ready for its exertions in the following days.

Recorded for posterity is a very SL looking collection of reindeer, as well as the old fellow himself.

Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, Fabulous Festivus, and Joyous "insert mid summer/winter festival of choice here."

And hope to see you for the New Year's Eve party in Penzance.

Raising funds in Steelhead

Saturday evening after finishing some RL commitments I was back in Steelhead to help raise some money for the upcoming Steelhead Harbourside

The sim is nearly completed in its prebooking and to help along the finances, the Men of Caledon were put on display as a fundraiser, with the announcement that they'd go topless if the donations reached the L$20,000 mark.

We were shirtless within 20 minutes.

No I'm not sure that it implies that the visiting women were a pack of perverts or that they were overly generous in their funding. Possibly both :-)

By the end of the night we had raised over L$75,000 and all sort of people were in all states of undress (including Tensai, who went topless once we reached L$60K, but I'll refrain from publishing the photos).

Great night and great fun and hopefully well on the way to launching the next stage of Steelhead.

Happy anniversary

Saturday also marked the 6 month anniversary of the handfasting of myself and my dearest Christine.

Happy Anniversary my love!

The Caledon-Wintefell Ball

Saturday afternoon was the first joint ball between Caledon and the "Victorian Gothic" themed sims of Winterfell. Hosted by Her Grace of Carntaigh, Gabrielle Riel, and the Senechal of Winterfell, Serra Anansi.

I wasn't able to make it to the start of the ball, originally being held in Winterfell Keep. It seems the combination of high prim jewellery, high prim gowns, AOs, HUDs and a high number of AVs in the sim was too much for Winterfell to bear and it fell over.

The reassembled dancers opted for the recently formed sim that was the cause of the celebrations, Caledon Cape Wrath. And with a quick scattering of dance balls and the tuning of the parcels to the right music, the Ball was under way again.

Sadly time zones and RL commitments prevented me from staying for much more than an hour, but it was nice to see the coming together of the two communities. I look forward to seeing what it brings.

Around Steelhead in 80 Days

Steelhead's recent dance themes have been running the gamut of Victorian Scientific Romances and this week was no exception.

Around the World in 80 days brought an assortment of attire out of the cupboard and onto the dance floor, with a variety of modes of transportation to help them get there.

The Duchies anniversary

Last Friday saw the first anniversary of the arrival of the original four Duchies in Caledon. Lionsgate, Carntaigh, Primverness and Loch Avie were the first void sims in Caledon and also the first sims to be held in trust by an individual rather than a group of people.

To celebrate the event Her Grace of Primverness hosted a Renaissance Ball.

Her Grace of Lionsgate (Her Lyoness), Her Grace of Primverness and Her Grace of Carntaigh were in attendance.

Myself and the Lady Primbroke waltz for the evening.

Sadly the Duchess of Loch Avie was unable to join in the celebrations due to RL commitments, however we certainly had a fabulous evening all the same.

May they rule for a further year in peace.

Des is on a roll!

It seems our Beloved Guvnah is on a roll to get himself sorted for before the New Year.

It was only this week that I managed to snap a picture of the newly terraformed Caledon Brigadoon when I here over the aether that yet another sim was being landed as we spoke!

Caledon Bridagoon, now divested of ice, but awaiting snow cover.

Caledon Cape Wrath. Winterfell and Caledon are now linked.

Myself and over a dozen spectators watched as the sea was parted and the earth was given form, before a mad dash ensued to be first across the new sim.

We're now now officially linked to Winterfell. Just mind their security devices when you dash across. Some of the Absinthe residents are a little zealous in their deployment of security orbs.

Caledon now stands at 33 sims with more than 2,160,000 square metres of virtual real estate. That's almost a square mile (and you wonder why it takes so long to get around Caledon now).
