'E is an Ex-Pirate!

'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

You may have guessed there were one or two parrots at Steelhead's Pirate themed party on Saturday night.

Mainly they started off by being annoying and copying everything that everyone said.

So we did the only reasonable thing that could be done in Steelhead...

But there seemed to be rather more dead parrots than originally live ones, thanks to Tensai deciding to build a dead parrot launcher.

Though things took a rather ominous Orwellian turn.

And what would a night in Steelhead be without things being blown up?

Chinese New Year, and Radio Riel party

With the Mardi Gras parade set to go on Friday night, Steelhead's usual Friday dance was shifted to Saturday. This week was the celebration of the Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year). Though ironically is usually prompts everyone into wearing Japanese outfits :-)

Yours truly

My dear Christine looking stunning in a cheongsam.

Miss Laval

As the festivities began drawing to a close I headed to Caledon Penzance where a party celebrating the official opening of the new Radio Riel offices was underway. Any excuse :-)

Sadly for Lionel Ritchie, we weren't dancing on the ceiling.

Tiny groovers

I was in a strange mood. I had not prepared a playlist and was just going by feel, and even then had things like Popcorn, Reel Big Fish, Falco, Robbie Williams, Front 242 and of course Weird Al Yankovic, are not usually the sort of things you'd expect to hear in the same set. Meh, they were warned :-)

Raising funds in Steelhead

Saturday evening after finishing some RL commitments I was back in Steelhead to help raise some money for the upcoming Steelhead Harbourside

The sim is nearly completed in its prebooking and to help along the finances, the Men of Caledon were put on display as a fundraiser, with the announcement that they'd go topless if the donations reached the L$20,000 mark.

We were shirtless within 20 minutes.

No I'm not sure that it implies that the visiting women were a pack of perverts or that they were overly generous in their funding. Possibly both :-)

By the end of the night we had raised over L$75,000 and all sort of people were in all states of undress (including Tensai, who went topless once we reached L$60K, but I'll refrain from publishing the photos).

Great night and great fun and hopefully well on the way to launching the next stage of Steelhead.

Mad Science in Steelhead

Friday's theme for the Steelhead dance this week was mad science. Having been rather busy of late I decided to go with the cliché and find myself a lab coat. Which turned out to be a lot harder that I imagined. While Miss Vandeverre's offerings were nice, they weren't what I was looking for. Another of the labcoats for sale was, in my humble opinion, complete junk ("sexy scrubs" or not). The best one I found turned out to have a flipper script inside it which thankfully could be removed.

The Kokopelli was appropriately decked out with lightning generators, phase balls and tesla coils. Stuff to make your inner Mad Scientist swoon.

Steelhead's very own Mad Scientist who adopted an artificial arm for the evening. Really she's mad enough.

O'Tool who seems to have had pasta for dinner before coming to the dance.

Maev Ceawlin (I think) as some sort of experiment gone wrong.

Schpooky Steelhead

Friday night was big night for Steelhead with a good crowd turning up for the dance and several prize awards being given out.

Miss Lumina picked up the award for Steelhead's Spookiest House, while yours truly won the pumpkin design competition.

An impressive array of outfits was sported during the night.

Blood fountains and pumpkins and black and orange cake!

That's me in the middle of the picture. No, look again. There's no way of making your AV's skin transparent in SL but this is a good second.

Because we can can can!

Moulin Rouge night was a great success. The first function in the rebuilt saloon, and what an impressive venue it is. Certainly evoking the ideal of a prosperous boomtown.

With red lined curtains and marble pillars the burlesque feel was complete.

DJ & Jukebox? Fuzz & Mr. Hassanov cast their eyes over the dance.

I went for a look inspired by Harold Zidler. Finding a red tailcoat in SL in next to impossible. I may have to do one of my own.
