Shanghaid!

Mr. Ho Ping had asked me to create a shop for him in Steelhead Shanghai. After seeing my Pawnbrokers in Clockhaven he asked if I could incorporate some of the elements into the new building. Apparently a pawnbrokers would be a good front.


It's quite a good front I think. I even got the right character for Pawnbroker. I also installed Elfguard^TM at his request.

A stranger in Steelhead

Is this the mysterious Ho Ping? Or someone connected with Cato Quan? Maybe he's just visiting the laundry next door.

The Rookery, Clockhaven

Some while ago I bought one of the last plots in Clockhaven on a whim. I've since been throwing together a small maze in my little pocket of the city.


The building consist of the Tudor building on the left through to the brown brick building on the right.

It's still being built. I've set aside space for Christine to have an outlet of Rosehaven Recipes in there, I'm working on a flat for a tiny, and the connecting section to the Undercity.

But I'm enjoying building it. It's even been suggested to me that someone may wish to rent the upstairs rooms.

In the mean time I've starting work on Ho Ping's place in Steelhead Shanghai. Oriental building is new to me so this will be interesting.

Tiny Dogfights in Steelhead

For a bit of fun this week Miss Eladrienne and the usual suspects from the RCAF and Timeforce 10 arranged for some tiny dogfights in Steelhead Port Harbour. One for 1pm SLT (which was a little early for me) and another at 7pm.


After a long absence the Krimson Koala takes to the skies again.

Sadly someone in Steelhead still has a grudge against Mr. Trenton and myself so I had to be careful not to fly too close to the banline or I got summarily booted.

Great fun watching people not used to flying take to the sky.


Lunar tried for the Kamikaze approach and succeeded in taking me out.


Changing planes after my first one got shot down I took to the Fokker.


Tensai opted for the more unusual flying gear. Though water bombs seemed to be very effective against it.

Musical diversions

I've been doing a lot with music of late.

Last weekend was the RFL Grand Tour of which New Babbage hosted the Illusions White Themed Ball.


Christine and I enjoy a much anticipated dance together.


The collection of white in New Babbage was an unusual site to say the least.

Later that night (or the wee hours of the morning SLT) I came back for the JLU leg of the Tour in Steelhead and played a mix of superhero inspired songs

Certainly the most colourful of the dances of the evening :-)


Then most recently Josh from the Vernian Process was lured inworld to discuss music of the steampunk nature and it's influences.


See it is possible to blink in your own photos.

This topic that Miss Emilly and I and various other have been discussing for some time, it was interesting to hear from someone actively involved in producing music of the "steampunk" nature. There were many groups I'd not even heard of before. Some I'm not overly into, other I really liked. Gogol Bordello have been on loop for many an evening since then :-)

Fuzzday Celebrations

Friday night was the RL birthday of the typist behind Steelhead's favourite Sheriff Fuzzball Ortega.

Walpurgisnacht

Thursday night started with Walpurgisnacht celebrations in Caledon Kittywickshire at the Consulate.


Yours truly in demonic visage rocking everything from classical, to hard rock with some humour and tragic 80s in between.

Steelhead Mardi Gras

Friday night in Steelhead was Mardi Gras night (yes just a little late).


My dear Christine and I dancing the evening away.


With promos for the next Dan Brown movie Angels and Demons.


The Baron came as the horse's head and Miss Davis celebrated her Welsh heritage.

Dancing in the streets

I've been to a few dances of late that I've been lax in reporting, mainly because of lack of photographs, however some have been quite an interesting evening.


I covered the second dance with the US Inauguration Ball in SL. The main ball lagged like cold molasses but then the sim had close to 70 AVs for most of the night.


The Victorian Ladies' Society held their Baroque Ball which was received well. Here I dance with the Duchess of Fatima.


Steelhead's Luau dance was fun with Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts aplenty.


More recently I hosted an Australia Day party in the Square in Rothesay, and called everyone Bruce.


Even managed to drag the Guv into bit of jig.

Schpooky Steelhead

Friday night hosted Steelhead's weekly dance with a Gothic/dark Victorian theme.


Lots of pale skin and dark flowy velvet abounded.

Post New Year's Tinies and Breaking a Sim

Now that the boxes and shiny paper had been found to be more entertaining than the toys contained within, Steelhead's Friday dance saw the tiny denizens arrive to Hoo and Riverdance to their heart's content. Managed to even get the Jägers worried.


Assorted tinies, fungi, Jägers, and the Odd Werewolf. My dear wife elected to wear her "tiny skirt".

On Sunday night, Her Grace of Loch Avie held an impromptu party. Her parting quote was "We'll show them abusive use of open sims! Ha!"

And we did.


First there were sheep


Then the Gideons launched their Bible Bazookas


And Daleks and Salmon and 'splosions!

But we didn't manage to crash the sim. :-(

DJ awesomeness

The last week of 2008 has been a fun one musically. Last Saturday the Presenters of Radio Riel got together for a "Battle of the DJs". Miss Emilly has detailed playlists and even found accompanying youtube examples here.

On NYE itself I had been asked to rake the JLU party through to midnight after the bands had finished. I lined up a few dancy tracks for the half hour beforehand and once the New Year had run in I just started playing random things. Of course being in Steelhead and already having a high weird quotient the requests started getting odd.

After being asked if I had the theme for Buckaroo Banzai and being able to say yes, and know which track was meant, Myfanwy Davies proclaimed me "Awesomest" and bowed to my DJ skills. I didn't notice until I was actually talking on air which cracked me up completely.

Ice Skating in Steelhead

Snow came to Steelhead and the Harbour froze over.
