Anniversary milestone

This Sunday will mark the 1st Anniversary of my betrothal to the most wonderful woman I know, Christine McAllister.

From curious beginnings to definitive attraction of two like minded people to marriage with love and true friendship, it's hard to believe only a year has passed. I consider myself honoured to have been blessed with such a wonderful friend and partner.

RL has conspired to postpone our anniversary celebrations but we should be organising something within the next week or two. Most probably venue will be Caledon Argylle. Do feel free to drop by. Things are still being shifted and tweaked as we settle in to the new place but you're more than welcome to drop by for a visit. Enjoy the picnic on the shore.

Say hello to Percy and Laudanum (I'm still impressed by how well peacocks and cats seem be able to get along) while you're there :-)

We had hardly finished moving the boxes into the Highlands when I was advised that a substantial tract of land had become available, not in our beloved Caledon as we had hoped but in our good neighbour of Winterfell. As circumstances would happen my dear Christine had just headed abroad. Communications were limited but through telegrams and letters I managed to communicate the basics of the situation. It was an opportunity too good to pass by.

On the land was a very large manor house, which is quite a bit larger than Davaar. Christine is contemplating the gardening opportunities, while we both try to remember the layout of the new place. Once we get things sorted we'll be organising a housewarming. But do feel free to drop by in the meantime. The sailing is quite good!

Burns Night, Steelhead and Dancing Drop Bears

Friday night saw something a little different as far as Caledon events. While Caledon is quite up front about it's Scottish heritage (though you'd have to use small words to explain it to some) usually this involves a dance with a Scots theme. Friday night was the traditional Burns Night Supper to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of one of Scotland's greatest poets. To celebrate, Her Grace of Loch Avie and Miss Soliel Snook organised a sit down dinner.

Complete with tatties and neeps, haggis, plenty of whisky and the traditional reading of various poems and historical anecdotes.

Yours truly was providing the music but my typist encountered some early problems requiring a complete system shutdown. Thankfully Her Grace of Carntaigh was onhand to cover for me while he instituted Emergency Repair Procedures.

The it was on with the dancing with some Scottish themed tunes.

Saturday night was Steelhead's formal for the month with the theme of "Steelhead" (possibly about as close to having a western theme as it's likely to get) which I dressed as Sheriff Jobias Barthelmess...

But I couldn't stay long as I was running my own Australia Day party in Caledon Cay.

Lawns, barbeque, esky, choons. (I need to get myself a set of cricket whites I think)

A visit from a "Darwin Tourist Trap".

Two drop bears and a bunny.

More dancing.

My dear wife and Miss Gildea play on the clothes line.

And what's an Australia Day party without beer?

Australia Day in Caledon

While there are few Australians in Caledon, my typist is one and as such I invite you to celebrate a little bit of Australia in Caledon on Saturday the 26th.

The esky is out the barby is hot and the Hills Hoist is made for swinging :-)

In Sunny Caledon Cay

There's also your very own copy of Ned Kelly's armour to be had.

Some fitting may be required....

Hope yous have a bonza bloody time mate!

Caledon Cay Mooring Tower

Way back in July I started on my goal of acquiring the plot to the south of Davaar for building expansion. After many delays and setbacks it was finally mine and the building commenced. Now finished, the Caledon Cay Mooring Tower (or as Lady Primbroke has started referring to it as, "The Garage") is open for use.

At this stage it only caters to dirigibles and flying vessels, but once the Radio Riel building is completed for Penzance I will be adding in facilities that will provide maritime access for both submersible and surface craft.

I may even host a party or two.

Queen Victoria's Birthday

Last evening a few of Caledon's Anglophiles and Commonwealth Expatriots got together to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday.

It was also the first official gathering Miss McAllister and I have held at Davaar, our home in Caledon Cay.

Miss McAllister's efforts at bringing the garden to life were much appreciated.

Miss Nicholas and myself

The Duchess of Loch Avie and Sir Red Caliber (I think)

Gathered in the rear garden.

Mrs. Peterman and myself enoy a dance.

Thank you to Her Grace of Carntaigh and Sir Red for providing music for the evening and thank you to all our friends who attended.
