Secrets Under Caledon

Caledon has many secrets. Some of which you can explore and discover for yourself. As with any changing and fluid thing there are places that can no longer be found: The lair under the ruins of Fort Caledon, the underwater tunnels of Argylle, or the mysterious body in the tunnels under the Port Caledon Theatre.

Some are still around if you go looking.

Sometimes you just have to find the right entrance.

Though not all are obvious.

Some are rather new.

Leading to hidden rooms.

Or choices in direction

And can require a balanced approach.

Deep insights can been uncovered.

Some require to immerse yourself to fully experience them.

Subterranean places can shed light on the history of Caledon, but may make for disturbing realisations.

Others tell tails of Caledon's more recent past and its dealings with smugglers

Some hidden places can be sources of entertainment

Some are home to nefarious individuals

And Things Man Was Not Meant To Know.

There are places that are a delight to travel

Others are not so cheery

And some require you to get into the inner workings of their power to find them.

Caledon Cay Mooring Tower

Way back in July I started on my goal of acquiring the plot to the south of Davaar for building expansion. After many delays and setbacks it was finally mine and the building commenced. Now finished, the Caledon Cay Mooring Tower (or as Lady Primbroke has started referring to it as, "The Garage") is open for use.

At this stage it only caters to dirigibles and flying vessels, but once the Radio Riel building is completed for Penzance I will be adding in facilities that will provide maritime access for both submersible and surface craft.

I may even host a party or two.

Happy Rez Day to Meeeeeeee!

Has it been a year already?

Saturday was the 1st year anniversary since my arrival in Second Life. As was pointed out I am one of the few (possibly one of only two) who had heard about Caledon before I was part of SL and came in specifically FOR Caledon, rather than someone who came to SL and was lucky enough to discover Caledon afterwards.

In that time I have met some wonderful people, many of whom I am proud to call my friends.

And parties are special with friends!

A pavilion set up by my favourite Brother-in-Law, decorated by my dear wife and music provided by my dear friend (and distant cousin) The Duchess of Carntaigh.

Dancing over what became nicknamed the "Drool Pool" after a song by Robbie Williams followed by one from Kylie Minogue.

Mr. Hassanov had to run off so we sent out a relative to help him find his way back.

The die hards partying on till the wee hours of the morning.

My sincere thanks to all those who stopped by to wish me well, and for the gifts, and for helping to make my first year in Caledon a most memorable one. Here's hoping there will be many more.

A letter from the Solicitor

Last week I received the most astonishing correspondence. Delivered with the evening post was a parcel addressed from the solicitors Sue, Grabbitt and Runne that contained a large number documents.

It seems with the death of my cousin Arthur, and his son Henry having died tragically in the brewery explosion last year, that I have inherited the title of the Earl of Primbroke! I must say it comes as something of a surprise. I had met my cousin on those few occasions of broader family gatherings, but I never thought I would be the one inheriting the title. While I know on my mother's side I'm related to the Duchies of Carntaigh and Loch Avie, on my father's side we were a rather cadet branch of the family.

I've been going over the details with my own solicitor seeing what entails are on the Estate. The Duchess of Carntaigh has kindly offered to include my own investiture with the upcoming ceremony of L'ordre du Rossignol.

So this will make me Lord Primbroke and Christine Countess Primbroke. Though I will still be answering to Sir Edward or Edward or Mr. Pearse or however else I'm likely to be called (though one day I hope to put and end to people incorrectly saying "Sir Pearse").

Now to work out what to wear...

Queen Victoria's Birthday

Last evening a few of Caledon's Anglophiles and Commonwealth Expatriots got together to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday.

It was also the first official gathering Miss McAllister and I have held at Davaar, our home in Caledon Cay.

Miss McAllister's efforts at bringing the garden to life were much appreciated.

Miss Nicholas and myself

The Duchess of Loch Avie and Sir Red Caliber (I think)

Gathered in the rear garden.

Mrs. Peterman and myself enoy a dance.

Thank you to Her Grace of Carntaigh and Sir Red for providing music for the evening and thank you to all our friends who attended.
