Season's Greetings and well wishes.

Season's Greetings

This year has been one of huge change for me.

Some of it good, some not so good. A lot of it involved relationships: some ending, some beginning, some being renewed, some being made stronger. As with all relationships, emotions have run high and low.

Thank you to all those who have helped, if in even a small way, to make my Second Life time more pleasurable, more interesting and more enriching. Thank you to those who looked out for me.

As we bid farewell to this year and look forward to what adventures the coming year may bring, may your New Year be filled with happiness and joy, health and prosperity.

 Sincerely,

 Edward

Pearse'd & Cut reopens its doors. (Sort of)

I haven't had a Marketplace presence for almost 10 years, mainly through procrastination. And I closed my inworld store about three years ago to replace it with the Sphinx Club.

Now I have finally set up my Marketplace shop and am pleased to offer three new items for your enjoyment.

At this stage they're only available on Marketplace but an inworld store is on the list.

Get yours here.

Happy 16th Anniversary

Happy 16th Anniversary to my beloved Christine.

Thank you for putting up with me and your patience for all these years.

Immortal Edward - Research

Immortal Edward - Research

Part of the "Immortal Edward" storyline I am working on.

In his travels through Europe and the East, Edward had heard stories of gateways and portals to other worlds. Sometimes they were called fairy rings, other times they were mystic portals. Very few were more than hearsay: someone knew someone who had been told about another person who knew something. Stories and folklore evolved, variously connecting them with Arthur, or Sigurd, or Ivan Tsarevitch. Yet occasionally a piece of the story would stand out to Edward, which made him think that amongst the chaff of legend, was a grain of truth.

In 1573 Edward was granted access to the Duke of Bavaria's personal library. In addition to copies of Sebald Schreyer's Schedelsche Weltchronik (later known as the Nuremberg Chronical), it also included rare manuscripts recording supernatural phenomena and stories. To most of these Edward paid only cursory attention, but his interest was held by a manuscript that referred to the Portal of the Ages. For some time he had suspected that earlier references he had found to "Engelstor" might be the same thing. Different people describe things in different ways, especially when they see it as something supernatural.

Briefly sipping his beer, Edward took a fresh quill and began copying the relevant sections from the book. Several disparate accounts shared an uncanny similarity of their experience leading him to believe they were discussing the same thing. And yet the accounts were wildly different as well. They all started the same but destinations all differed. It would seem there was a common entry point but the exit was dependant on other factors.

This was going to take further research. Edward assumed that the Portal wasn't going to be out in the open or if it was it only appeared at specific times. Either way it looked like a trip to England was on the cards. He felt he had been away for long enough that no-one alive should be able to recognise him. It would be interesting to visit again. After all they had a Queen now as their ruler. Edward smiled to himself as he reflected on the vast changes he had seen the world undergo. Time to explore it some more!

Is this still on?

*Blows dust off the surface*

*dissolves into a coughing fit belatedly realising just how bad that idea was*

Hullo!

Yes I'm still here!

Well, mostly.

I'm still in Babbage. The unofficial right-hand man I think. I should petition Tenk to be official Mace Holder. Pearse'd & Cut closed down inworld. And since I never had a Marketplace set up that ended that. However I have been nagged cajoled encouraged to set it up on Marketplace and am currently in the last stages of setting a new logo and packaging and will hopefully be offering some wares Very Soon™

In place of the former Pearse'd & Cut store, the Sphinx Club has been constructed. The home of Breakfast in Babbage (which is STILL going) and my dance club in Babbage Palisade. I've also finally set up a SL group so you can get announcements of upcoming gigs. There's even a discord server!

I've been doing a bit more work with SL photography and am rather enjoying that.

My latest creation:

Night Patrol

I am going to try and update this a little more often. Or at least post something a little more interesting than just monthly even notices.

Of course, good intentions and all that. Remember: April is Procrastination Awareness Month!

Bedlam in Babbage: Tolkien Celebration

November will be my 111th Breakfast in Babbage broadcast!

In honour of turning “eleventyone” I have decided to make this month’s theme a Tolkien inspired one.

Music from the various film and radio adaptations, as well as music inspired by Tolkien’s works, from Led Zeppelins and Blind Guardian to John Sangster and the Tolkien Ensemble, there will be music for all. Some of it you may never have heard before.

Join us Saturday afternoon for 2 hours of Tolkien inspired tunes at The Clarendon, New Babbage.

Breakfast in Babbage: 80s Movie Music

I love soundtracks. However the 80s had a huge number of songs that became hits in their own right. Huey Lewis wrote Power of Love for Back to the Future but it charted well on it's own. Kenny Loggins wrote both Footloose and Danger Zone. Irene Cara also had two major hits. And Ray Parker made the phrase Who ya Gonna Call unusable even to this day.

Join Edward Pearse as we trip down memory lane looking at movie music of the 80s.
