Not all movies may be worth waiting for...

Two of my human avatar's most anticipated movies this year are based on books: Stardust and The Golden Compass.

This evening I just watched the trailer for a film based on one of the books I loved as a teenager: The Dark Is Rising.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

I think The Dark Is Rising looks fun... but it most DEFINITELY doesn't look much like I pictured the original book as being. I'd have less problem with it if they'd just change the name.

What have they done? That isn't the Dark is Rising. Why is it set in America? Wasn't Merriman a great tall fellow? Okay, Christopher Eccleston, nice touch, but whaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

I was really looking forward to that film as well. Oh cobblers.

Not only that, but he's wearing a Santa Cruz jacket. Gods, that city is an infestation of surfers and street artists. I know, I used to live there. :)

But...yeaaah, that feels much more like "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", for some reason.

Ick.

Dunno....Stardust and The Golden Compass looked very impressive from the trailers. This is......I haven't a clue.

Mind you, I could be wrong, and it'll turn out to be a pretty good flick.....

Well, I must ashamedly admit I never read any of the three series, but as far as trailers go, Stardust and Golden Compass really caught my attention! Thise look like movies I would actually pay a theater ticket for. The Dark is Rising trailer indicates to me I'll just wait till it's out on video, and somebody else decides to rent it, and I'll watch it with them.
