A twist to the War
Caledon's upcoming war with Neualtenburg took an interesting twist this week with the New Babbage Cog announcing that Neualtenburg and New Babbage were now sister cities. One wonders if this means that Caledon is at war with both?

I'm afraid that's exactly what it means, Captain! But what next? Will Steelhead stay neutral, or will they come to the aid of Caledon with a division of steam-powered elephants?

Far too many of us are dual citizens of Steelhead AND Caledon (such as Mr. Pearse and yourself, Miss Projects) for the issue to ever be in doubt. As a Steelhead citizen, I would be in favor of alliance with the fair land of Caledon. As a Caledonian citizen I would welcome alliance with myself!
Do we have steampowered elephants? I was only aware of the giant chickens, but then I have been rather occupied as of late in other places *smiles and blushes*. Just as an aside, quite a few citizens of New Babbage, including the mayor Mr. Sprocket, were in Steelhead last night. They were adamant that they were not taking up arms to defend Neualtenburg. I suppose time will tell.
The question with Steelhead hat unlike Caledon, Steelhead is not an Independant State. Steelhead City is just that,a city. Furthermore it is located in the Oregon Territory which is scheduled to join the United States of America in two years. (The paperwork however is lost in a time loop along with the rest of the town.)
So the issue is, does Steelhead have the power to autonomously declare war? I think not..
Steelhead is in the Oregon Territory of the United States, is recognized as such, by Britain. However it seems to think of itself with a frontier autonamy, that allows it do do things as choose it's own flag etc.
I would be surprised it if it actually declared war, but interested individuals may form an expeditionary party to assist one side or another, such a thing would not be unusual. I myself have applied for a commission to be attached w/ the Caledon forces in the upcoming conflict.
I suppose if we learn of a Burger plot on Steelhead we could form a militia...

Well, I ran into Mayor Shanauthan Sprocket the other day. Specifically, I landed my skycyle blimp on the poor fellow, who gallantly assured me that his top hat had protected him from undue harm.
In the ensuing banter, he asserted that the alliance betwixt Babbage and the Blood-Thirsty Baby-Bothering Bosch Hordes (might I say that without offense?) is entirely a realpolitik pertaining to trade only. While we might wish that Babbage would refrain from supplying the Vicious Villanous Villans (again, no offense meant) with their daily sausage and kraut, we nontheless can rest easy that no MILITARY support will be provided, nor need we fear seeing our brother and sister steampunkers at the wrong end of a Pearse Patent Pneumatic Rifle.
Well, through Miss Amber--Duchess Amber? I'm so bad at remembering titles--Steelhead does have a tie to Caledon, and none to Neualtenburg. But I remain convinced in Mr. Sprocket's conviction to remain neutral. And while these past few days have seen a great influx of interested parties from Caledon and New Babbage, I do not think anyone with an invasive urge has come to our small port town.
Oh, and Miss Christine? Steelhead indeed has steampowered elephants. Or at least, Miss Tensai does. I should know, I was crushed to a paste by one.
Six lives to go...
Lady Amber. Well Technically it should be Lady Palowakski as she's a Baroness. But everyone just calls her Lady Amber.
Lady Amber. Lovely.
I really should keep that in mind, she is the Ambassador to Steelhead from Caledon...
Though I may be missing from Caledon for awhile, I do intend to return soon!
